Your glow starts before you even walk into your appointment.
The outcome of your tan depends on how well your skin is prepared beforehand and how it’s cared for after. Follow this guide to ensure the most natural, even, and long-lasting results.

Prepare Your Skin for the Best Results
Proper prep creates the foundation for a flawless tan.
Nail Appointments
Manicures and pedicures should be done before your spray tan appointment.
Shaving and Waxing
Complete all shaving or waxing 12–24 hours before your appointment.
Avoid shaving creams if possible.
Exfoliate Throughly
Exfoliate your entire body the day before your appointment to remove dry skin. If using an oil-based scrub, do this the day before, not the day of.
Products to Skip Day-Of
Arrive with clean, dry skin.
Do not wear:
• Lotion
• Deodorant
• Perfume
Do not use Dove or bar soaps, as they can leave a residue that affects your tan.
What to Wear After
Bring loose, dark, flowy clothing. Long dresses or loose pants are best. Avoid anything tight that may rub your skin. Flip-flops are best for your feet.
After Your Spray Tan
Protecting your Bahama Mamas Glow
Before Your First Rinse:
• Avoid water
• Avoid sweating
• Avoid touching your skin
(This prevents uneven development and transfer.)
Rinse Timing
• Regular tan: 8 hours
• Rapid tan: 2–3 hours
First Rinse
Rinse with water only - No soap or lotion!
Rinse until water runs clear
Pat Dry - Do Not Rub
Avoid these Products
• Dove or bar soaps
• Vaseline products
• Mineral oil
Hydrate and SPF Daily
Moisturize after your first soap shower and 1-2x daily after.
Recommended: Hempz Lotion
Your tan does not protect you from the sun. Use lotion-based sunscreen only.
Recommended: Sun Bum
